Outlook Express
To use e-mail, you first need to open your e-mail program: Outlook Express. You need to create an account to get your GuyanaNet e-mails.

1. Click on Tools , then Accounts

2. Click on the Add option. A menu will pop up. Click on ‘ Mail'

3. Type the name you would like your e-mails to be sent from. Click Next

4. Select the first option and type in your GuyanaNet e-mail address. Your e-mail address is in the format username@guyana.net.gy E.g., if your e-mail is louis@guyana.net.gy then your username is louis. Click Next

5. Select POP3 for your ‘ Server Type' . Type the following number for both your Incoming and Outgoing mail servers: mail.guyana.net.gy Click Next.

6. Your username is automatically entered in this screen. Type your password. (This is the same as your Internet login password). Click Next , then click Finish . Click Close in the Internet Accounts window. Your account is now set up to receive GuyanaNet e-mails.

To Receive and Read your E-Mail

•  Click on the Send/Receive button

•  Enter your password and click OK. Your messages will download onto your computer. These messages will be downloaded into your Inbox folder.

Highlight the message you wish to read. The body of the message appears in the lower part of the window

Replying to your E-mails

•  To reply to a message, click on the Reply button. A new window will open. When replying, the person's e-mail address is automatically entered.

•  Type your response in the window and then click on Send . You can check your Sent Items folder to verify that the message was sent. The Sent Items folder appears below the Inbox and Outbox folders on Step 7 above.

Authenthication

Apart from all that you need to authenticate your account. To do this follow the instrcutions below:
(1) Click on Tools > Accounts
(2) Click on Mail tab
(3) Double click on your mail account (yourmail@guyana.net.gy)
(4) Click on Server Tab and Check the box that says "My server requires authenticaton" See above image

 

Composing a New E-Mail message

•  Click on the New Mail icon at the top of the screen

•  In the window that appears, first type the e-mail address of the recipient, type in a subject and then type your message in the main text area.

•  Click on Send . You can check your Sent Items folder to verify that the message was sent. The Sent Items folder appears below the Inbox and Outbox folders on Step 7 above.

Remember to check your GuyanaNet e-mail regularly!
